Adjuvant

A product which is added to a pesticide formulation in order to increase its effectiveness is called adjuvant or sometimes additive.

The term "adjuvant" is often used for additives which are added to the spray liquor in the tank before spraying. Sometimes these are also called "tank-mix adjuvants" while adjuvants incorporated in the formulation are called "built-in adjuvants". They can be used in most types of herbicide formulations and are not limited to SL formulations.
